Common Questions about Auckland Storage

  • How much does it cost to store in Auckland?

It all depends on the amount of stuff you have to store, which could go from some boxes to the contents of an entire four-bedroom house with garage – and everything in between. With Safestore, you can expect to pay around $100 for an 8.5m3 metre unit, all the way to around $400 for a 50m3 metre unit worth of stuff. Ask for a quote for your specific needs.

Safestore also offers specials occasionally, for instance a 50% discount for the first three months on certain units. Ask us if we have a special running.

  • Do I need to pay a deposit?

Safestore Containers does not require you to pay a deposit to rent a storage space. However, there is a small deposit on the padlock and swipe card we issue you with.

  • What is the minimum hire period at Safestore Containers' Auckland locations?

Storage units Auckland can be rented for as little as one or two months. Safestore Containers offers short and long term rental options and we have a flexible cancellation policy. Contact us to chat about the options, or to extend your existing unit in a month-by-month plan.

  • Can I park a car in a storage unit?

Yes you can – vehicle storage usually requires a larger ground unit. These are subject to availability. Get in touch with us to discuss.

  • What should you NOT store in a storage unit?

Anything that is harmful or illegal is not to be kept in a storage unit. This includes toxic or combustible substances like paint, solvents, gasoline, harmful chemicals. Weapons and items that are considered illegal or acquired illegally, are also not allowed.

Anything perishable like fresh or tinned food can encourage rats, mice and bugs, as well as degrading while in storage and potentially harming other things in your storage unit. Living creatures like pets or even your plants are not meant to be kept in a storage unit.

Our storage units are designed for things like your furniture, clothes, DVDs, CDs, paperwork, and collectibles.

  • Can you sleep in a storage unit?

If you have spent all day rummaging through your things and need a quick lie down, it isn’t illegal. But a storage unit is for your belongings, not human habitation, so spending the night or living out of a storage space is not allowed, from a safety as well as insurance standpoint. There is no way to lock the unit from the inside, there is no safe ventilation, nor is there access to running water or ablution facilities.

Our storage units are designed for things like your furniture, clothes, DVDs, CDs, paperwork, and collectibles.
